Meet Jonathan Paz (sounds like ‘Pause’), known around the office simply as J-Paz or Paz. Jonathan has been with Strategic Edge for more than four years now and plays a huge role with all of the sites that we create. As director of tech services, Jonathan can seem a little bit strict at times. However, under that intimidating beard he’s also a Superman-loving, backyard football-playing, technology-obsessed, full-spirited family man.
Find out more about the man in charge of all things technical at Strategic Edge.
Where is home for you? Born in Sacramento, raised in Los Angeles/Seattle [Which is how he ended up at the odd combination of both a Seahawks and 49ers fan…we don’t like it either]
Current Role at SEP: Director of Technical Services [Paz is also a pastor at a Seattle church and has been preaching for seven years—SE’s Dave Thompson and Dana Fox attend this same church]
Current Computer: Personal Mac Book Pro, Work Think Centre M series Lenovo
Current mobile device: iPhone 5 phone, Samsung Galaxy tablet [In the war between Android and iOS, Paz is smack dab in the middle}
Finish this phrase: “I work…” I work hard and play hard but love even harder.
What apps/software/tools can’t you live without? Why? Multiple monitors. I like to be working on multiple things at once and need to have everything spread out in front of me.
What’s your workspace setup like? NASA Houston Mission Control [Featuring one of the strangest keyboards you will ever see]
What’s your best life hack/time-saving shortcut? Neither one of these. There are no short cuts in life, and anything worth doing takes time.
What’s your favorite to-do manager? I love a bullet point check list. I use Outlook to create myself a “to-do” list.
Besides your computer and phone, what gadget can’t you live without and why? My multimedia center. I have integrated my house to run through one central media center that controls most of my household electronics.
What are you listening to while you work? C89.5 [A local Electronic Dance Music station ran by a Seattle high school…never too old to dance—and we’ve seen Paz dance a lot]
What are you currently reading? Disciples of All Nations; Continuous Mission Until He Returns
Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert? Extrovert. I was raised in a big family and I love to be around big groups where we can talk loud and laugh even louder. [Lots of times, you can hear Paz’s laugh booming from the other end of the office]
What’s your favorite quote? “Watch your thoughts, for they become words.Watch your words, for they become actions.Watch your actions, for they become habits.Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny. What we think, we become. My father always said that… and I think I am fine.” ― Margaret Thatcher
What does your sleep routine look like? After we put the baby to bed, my wife and I watch our favorite show until we get tired. [The birth of Baby Paz was a big highlight at the office]
Who else would you like to see answer these same questions? I would say: anyone I’ve worked with. This questionnaire helps bring insight about who you are and what you love.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? “This too shall pass”. I was given this advice by my father moments before he lost his battle with cancer.
Also, “You are either because of OR despite of” – Dana Fox.
