Last week, the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) released its 2013 statistics, which serve as the barometer of the health and vitality of the industry. It confirmed the anecdotal evidence that we see and hear from our clients—that plastic surgery continues to be on the rise, with breast augmentation, eyelid surgery, and facelifts leading the way. As the FDA approved two more shaped silicone implants last year, breast augmentation continues to top the chart of surgical procedures, with more than 290,000 procedures last year.
The overall three percent growth is encouraging, especially building on the three previous years of growth. At Strategic Edge, our clients experienced an overall 26 percent increase in website traffic, on average, from 2012 to 2013, which means we’re effectively translating this growing interest into growing traffic.
So what can a practice do to capitalize on these upward trends? The ASPS data shows that the top five surgical procedures are breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, liposuction and facelifts, and the top five minimally-invasive procedures are Botox, soft tissue fillers, chemical peels, laser hair removal, and microdermabrasion. However, each practice has their own most popular and profitable procedures, which can vary based on your location and community demographic. It’s important to customize your website and blog content based on who your customer is and what they want. At Strategic Edge, we deeply believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to creating a website or marketing strategy. Depending on the procedures on which you want to focus, there are a number of tactics that we can implement, including marketing hubs, blog strategies, social media promotions, online advertising, and more. Just give us a ring, let us know where you want to go in 2014, and we’ll help you get there!
